The ST connector uses a half-twist bayonet type of lock that is used to secure the cable to the connecting device. Supported distance depends on cable standard and bandwidth: OM1 up to 33 m, OM1 up to 82 m for 10 Gbps; OM3 up to 100 m, OM4 up to 150 m for 100 Gbps.
