Brand Sony Ericsson is the property of company Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB which represents joint venture that has been created in 2001 by corporation Sony and company Ericsson AB on the equal rights. Till 2001 year these companies were competitors in the mobile market, but in connection with difficulties at both manufacturers they have been incorporated into one enterprise focused on release of mobile phones.

Trade mark Ericsson has taken place on behalf of the founder - Lars Magnus Ericsson which in 1876 has organized "Electromechanical workshops LM Ericsson&Co", and brand Sony was work of experts in marketing that have carried out not one sleepless night on searches of the name for the company. In fact before renaming the company was called "Tokyo Telecommunications Engineering", and after the WW2 one mention of Tokyo - capital of Japan (the basic opponent on this war) caused tearing away in Americans (the basic buyers of Japanese electronics). Direct translation Sony not exist, this word derivative from latin "sonus" ("sound") and English "sonny". Such combination should show friendliness of a brand and its belonging to audioproduction.

The central office of the company is located in Hammersmit, London. The research centers are located in Sweden, Japan, China, USA and Great Britain. The total of employees is exceeded by 5000 person.

In 2001 Jan Wäreby  Jan Wäreby rarticipate in creation of company Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, becomes executive vice-president of corporation and heads service of sales and marketing.

The current President (since June, 22, 2004) is Miles Flint  Miles Flint
Corporate Executive Vice President (since October, 25, 2006) is Anders Runevad  Anders Runevad
